JAN BLENCOWE TO EXHIBIT AT THE ARTS CENTER OF TOLLAND IN JUNE

(TOLLAND) Exhibiting at the Arts Center of Tolland, 22 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT (06084), for the month of June will be award-winning artist Jan Blencowe..    All are invited to an opening reception on Saturday, June 4th from noon to 2:00 p.m., with gallery hours continuing until 4:00 p.m. Additional exhibit days are Saturdays, June 11, 18 and 25th, also from noon
until 4:00 p.m.

Practically born with a crayon in her hand, Jan Blencowe considers visual art her first language. Her formal training began in New York in high school. She continued her studies at the fine art program at
New Jersey’s Caldwell College, where she received a BFA, magna cum laude, with concentrations in painting, color and art history. Her college years also included an internship at New Jersey’s Montclair Museum.   Blencowe is the recipient of numerous awards; she has placed four times as a finalist in the Paint America Competition, has been selected by the US Department of State for participation in the Art in Embassies Program and currently has two paintings hanging in the US Embassy in Honduras. Recently
her painting, Bauer Farm Barns was purchased by 20th Century Fox for inclusion in the upcoming movie, “We Bought a Zoo,” starring Scarlet Johansson and Matt Damon.

Blencowe’s creative goals include continuing the path forged by the great American landscape painters who so seamlessly merged the grand but temporal beauties of nature and the sublime spirituality
present in every living thing. Her passion for connection continues to lead her into the ever evolving world of the internet and social media as a conduit for bringing together artists and art lovers all over the globe.
