ADULT CLASSES
Drawing – Essential and Elegant
Known for her positive and upbeat teaching style, Shauna will help any student achieve a solid foundation for their personal artistic journey. Geared for the novice, or the experienced artist, this class will be a conduit to your ability to see essential shapes, the shape of light and shadow, and the negative and positive shapes defining the subject. The first class will be a narrated demonstration discussing first, the joy found in the search for excellence, then, the reasons why each decision is made, including concept, layout, value development, and finally, the composition that brings it all together into a successful drawing. The last two classes will have a clothed model.
At the first class, a supply list will be available and a model fee of $10.00 per student will be collected.
Instructor Shauna Shane has been a professional artist for 34 years and is a former Resident Artist at Yellowstone National Park, and, more recently, The New Britain Museum of American Art. Her paintings are in the collections of the Montana Capitol, Yale New Haven Hospital and former CT Senate President Pro Tempore, Donald Williams. Shauna works with confidence and color, reflecting years of solid academic training in drawing and painting. Her artwork conveys her ability to communicate not only the energy, but also the unique emotion of the scene. Shauna’s goal, deceptively simple, is to share her love for the poetry of artistic expression, and her appreciation and delight in the natural world and its inhabitants.
