This novella opens in a small, isolated Georgia town. The story introduces Miss Amelia Evans, a strong character of both body and mind, who is approached by a hunchbacked man who claims to be of kin.

Discussion leader Joan Shapiro, Founder of Blue Spruce Press, has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Wesleyan and a Bachelor’s Degree from Brandeis in English and American Literature. She has had a thirty year career teaching, writing, editing and publishing. Her publications include two volumes ofpoetry, numerous short stories, articles, and reviews.
