Friends of Tolland Public Library Donate Dictionaries
Each third grader at the Tolland Intermediate School received a dictionary this November, courtesy of the Friends of the Tolland Library.
On a mission to support local education and literacy, the Friends of the Tolland Public Library are supporting the international, non-profit Dictionary Project for a third year. Since its start in 1992, the organization has created a network responsible for gifting over 18 million dictionaries to children at a crucial stage in literacy learning. Besides the educational use, the dictionaries are a statement of support from the community, promote awareness of the library, and encourage students to become successful, lifelong readers. This November, each third grade student in Tolland Intermediate School received their own dictionary, courtesy of the Friends of the Tolland Public Library.
