Fund Honoring Fallen Responder Makes Donation To Tolland FD

TOLLAND, CT — A fund set up in memory of a fallen first responder has made a donation to the Tolland Fire Department.

TFD officials this week accepted the $5,000 gift from the Lovett Family and the Ben Lovett Memorial Fund.

The fund was set up to assist first responder organizations in memory of Ben Lovett, a Vernon native and South Windsor police officer who died in 2021 from injuries sustained in an off-duty crash in Tolland when his motorcycle was hit by a drunken driver.

"We are very appreciative of a very generous donation," Tolland Fire Chief John Littell said. "We will use it for something very special because Ben's memory will always be close to us."
