Giant Menorah on the Tolland Town Green!
First Night of Chanukah Celebration Open to All
Tolland, CT – Kick off the Festival of Lights in true style!
At last year’s celebration, Senator Tony Guglielmo and Representative Tim Ackert delighted the crowd with a little Chanukah dance in front of the giant Menorah... What will happen this year? Don’t miss this community-wide celebration!
Town dignitaries are expected to join local residents on the Tolland Town Green (right across from Town Hall) for a special event marking the first night of Chanukah. The program, which is free and open to all, will take place on Sunday, December 6, 2015. It will begin at 5:00pm.

In addition to the kindling of Tolland’s Giant (9-foot-tall) Menorah, the event will feature joyous music as well as hot cider and warm potato “Latkes” (pancakes). Several free raffles will be drawn, and participants will get to meet “Mr. Dreidle.”
This free, festive event is sponsored by the Chabad Jewish Center. “Chanukah is a great time to celebrate with family, friends, and neighbors,” said Rabbi Yosef Wolvovsky, Executive Director of the Chabad. “We welcome everyone to come out and join the festivities.”

At last year’s event, while moving his feet to traditional Chanukah music, Tolland resident Mark Naigles remarked, “Dancing is just so fun… Any excuse to dance is a good excuse!” Why not join the festivities?
“The Menorah and its candles have always been a symbol of freedom and unity,” said Rabbi Wolvovsky. “It’s beautiful to see so many people come together to celebrate Chanukah.”
