Holy Week Services Scheduled at UCC Tolland

The United Congregational Church of Tolland welcomes all looking for a place to worship during Holy Week, which begins on Sunday, March 29th. The church is located in the center of the Tolland Green, at 45 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT, 06084. We have many ways that people can worship with us this year with different types of services being offered throughout the week.

Holy Week begins with Palm and Passion Sunday on March 29th, which will include two services (8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.) followed by a Maundy Thursday service on April 2nd. On Thursday, the church Deacons will be leading us in the Tenebrae evening service, beginning at 7:30p.m.

Two opportunities to worship on Good Friday (April 3rd) will be offered as a way to observe the traditional day of Jesus’ crucifixion. First, from 12:00-7:30 p.m., the sanctuary will be open for prayer, reflection and meditation. There will be devotional materials available to read and there will also be prayer stations throughout the sanctuary where different ways of engaging with God can be explored. These stations are designed to be experienced individually, so we encourage people to come whenever is convenient and stay for as long as desired. Then, at 7:30p.m., we will hold a traditional Good Friday worship service to remember Jesus’ last hours on earth with prayer, scripture readings, music, a litany of the nails, short reflection, and more.

Easter Worship services will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 5th with a sunrise service at the Lodge/Pond at Crandall Park. That will be followed by traditional Easter Services at the church at 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Please join us as we rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus Christ!
