Homeowner Makes Quick Work Of Mower Fire In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — A homeowner trying to get a head start on the weekend lawn cutting had to contend with a mower that caught fire, authorities said.

The incident took place Friday evening on Shanda Lane, fire officials said.

The homeowner was able to get a fire extinguisher to douse the flames prior to the arrival of firefighters.

The ride-along mower's hood, steering wheel and seat were left melted and the engine was a charred mess. The rear tires appeared to have made it through the ordeal unscathed.

No one was hurt, however.
