I-84 To Be Construction-Free For Holiday Travel This Weekend: DOT

TOLLAND/HARTFORD COUNTY, CT — It seems those orange cones won't be part of the holiday decorations this weekend along Interstate 84 in Tolland and Hartford counties.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation Thursday pledged construction-free highways for the holiday weekend.

"There will be no maintenance, inspection, or construction activities on major highways over the holiday weekend," DOT officials said in a social media post.

Only emergency roadwork will be performed, officials said.

Meanwhile, Connecticut State Police will be out in force in attempts to thwart drunken and reckless driving.
