Injured 40-Year-Old Turtle Rescued in Tolland
An injured turtle, estimated to be older than 40, was recently rescued in Tolland.

TOLLAND, CT — An injured turtle, estimated to be older than 40, was recently rescued in Tolland and is being nursed back to health, according to the latest town manager's report.
Animal control officers were able to pick up the turtle, whose injuries included a cracked shell, according to the report.
A turtle rehabilitator — the Turtle Rescue League — was contacted and was able to explain to local officials how to provide first aid until the turtle could be transported to its central Massachusetts location.

It was determined the turtle is a 40-plus-year-old, River Cooter, which is not native to the area. It is believed the turtle was a pet that "escaped" or was set free, according to the report.
