K-9 "Hero" From Troop C in Tolland Nominated for Hero Dog Award
Hero has been nominated for the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards.
Connecticut State Police K-9 “Hero” from Troop C Tolland is is in the running for the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards.
Hero and Trooper Mike Zella helped track down a three-year-old that went missing after chasing a stray puppy in Coventry, according to NBC Connecticut.
Hero was given a scent article from the missing boy’s mother and he and Zella went into action searching the deep woods. Neighbors and others had been searching the area previously.

“Without Hero the outcome could have been much worse,” Zella said. “Hero is a godsend and has not only assisted me in finding missing people, he also excels at apprehending criminals.”
