Late Bridge Goal Boosts Tolland Eagles to 6-1

The Tolland Boys Varsity soccer squad used a goal by Tyson Bridge with just 3:52 left in regulation to beat Fermi, 1-0 in Enfield on Thursday.  The win moves the Eagles to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the CCC East.

Don't let the Fermi Falcons record fool you.  After a tough start, giving up 16 goals in the first two matches, experienced Coach Jim Russell figured out how to get his team to compete.  Fermi often dropped all eleven players deep in their defensive end and challenged Tolland to work the ball through them all.  The same style led to a 2-2 tie for Fermi vs. the league leading Sachems of RHAM on Tuesday evening.

Tolland outshot the Falcons 18-2, but needed a Tyson Bridge goal off a Kyle Bujese pass at 36:02 of the 2nd half to finally get on the board.  Nick Olson recorded his 2nd shutout for the Tolland Eagles with just one save.

The Eagles host E.O. Smith on Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm in their first ever night game at the renovated THS stadium.  E.O. has won its last three matches, to level its record at 3-3 and always proves to be a tought test for THS.
