Latest Tolland County Coronavirus Updates — Coordinated Reponses

The latest updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Tolland county range from food for the cops to coordinated response efforts.

TOLLAND COUNTY, CT — Tolland Emergency Management Director John Littell was not shy about touting efforts to get responders in Tolland County on the same page in terms of coordinated coronavirus service policies. Even the animal control officers are on board.

The county is "keeping it real," in Littell's words. Several conference calls, coordinated by Littell, have taken place bewtween police, fire, ambulance and EMT departments, he said. Even the counties' animal control units have been involved.

The theme, Littell said, is to have consistent policies for response procedures and shared services in light of coronavirus concerns.

"We're making sure we're prepared," he said.

Vernon Town Administrator/Emergency Mangement Director Michael Purcaro credited Littell with providing "real time" coordination where the "boots are on the ground."

Vernon police this week were getting a lot of love in terms of donations.

On Thursday, a crew from New England Pizza in Vernon dropped off lunch. A resident had also dropped off food from New England pizza a couple of days earlier.

Earlier in the week, the Vernon Staples donated multiple boxes of tissues, disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer for the cops other Vernon first responders.
