Learning the Delight of Scrapbooking
Several children spent hours assembling their own scrapbooks Thursday during a special program offered by the recreation department.
The art of strategically placing little pieces of paper and photographs in an intentionally haphazard way on cheerful paper can seem like a daunting task to some. Yet, creating the perfectly personal scrapbook does not need to be an intimidating task.
Thanks to the Tolland recreation department, several youngsters are learning how to assemble their own notes, pictures and clippings into an album to create the own perfect memory keeper.
Thursday, July 12, children rummaged through materials laid out up on long tables in the back room of the Tolland Public Library as instruction Jessica Salkeld walked them through the basics. The Spectacular Scrapbooks class is one of several programs offered by the department throughout the summer.

Children brought in pictures from their summer escapades and spent the better part of the morning and early afternoon adding color, stickers, drawings and captions to enhance their work. Deep in concentration at times, the children appeared to be pleased with the results of their first few pages.
