TOLLAND, CT — A man being described in an arrest warrant as a habitual shoplifter at the Tolland Big Y has been charged in connection with a wintertime theft of diapers and beer from the store.

He also took laundry care items, state police said.

The 28-year-old, whose listed address is in Tolland, was charged with sixth-degree larceny. He had two re-arrest orders for theft-related cases out of Hartford. In 2017, he was sentenced to 40 months in jail after a second-degree robbery conviction out of Rockville Superior Court.

According to a warrant for the December incident at the Tolland Big Y, the man was caught on surveillance cameras stealing three, 30 packs of Bud Light beer and one, 30 pack of regular Budweiser beer, along with a pack of Pampers diapers, two packs of fabric softener and two packs of detergent pods on Dec. 18.

According to a warrant, he was arrested earlier that same day for shoplifting. In all, the man is accused of taking $320 worth of stuff that day.

State police said in a warrant the man has stolen from the same Big Y multiple times.

The warrant was served Sunday, state police said.
