Man Charged in I-84 Shooting Incident

He was also charged with drug possession.

WILLINGTON, CT — A Hartford man was arrested for a highway shooting incident on Sunday, state police said.

On Sunday at 6:41 a.m., troopers responded to to an area just west of Exit 70 on Interstate-84 for a reported single-car crash.

Troopers located a man from Hartford, walking west near the rest area with a gunshot wound in his right calf, state police said.

Another man, identified as 24-year-old Luis Sierra of Hartford, was located near the car, state police said.

Troopers found .38-caliber shell casings in and around the car, according to a report. A semi-automatic handgun of the came caliber was located tossed over a nearby bridge.

Sierra was arrested for the incident after allegedly being in an altercation with the other person and was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, according to a report.

He also was in possession of a small bag for methamphetamine and for that he was charged with narcotics possession, sate police said.

He was to appear in court on Monday after being held overnight on a $25,000 bond, state police said.
