Man Snared by Troopers Trying to Escape at Troop C

A man was facing road rage charges and then tried to feel custody, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT — A man who already failed to post a $10,000 bond for a road rage incident had another $50,000 added to his legal ante after trying to escape custody on the way to the lockup, arrest reports indicate.

Jeffrey Rule, 30, of Scott Drive, Manchester was initially arrested at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate-84 for third-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and first-degree reckless endangerment. He allegedly broke a windshield during a dispute while driving, according to reports.

At 5:37 p.m. that same day, he was being loaded into a vehicle for transportation to the Hartford Correctional Facility when he tried to run from state police, according to a report.

He was chased down after a short foot chase near the woods behind the Troop C barracks, according to a report.

For the escape attempt, he was charged with interfering and criminal attempt at escape, according to an arrest report.
