Motorcyclist From Willington Killed In 3-Vehicle Collision In Tolland

A crash involving a motorcycle, tractor trailer and pickup truck resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man on Interstate 84 Thursday.

TOLLAND, CT β€” A motorcyclist from Willington died Thursday after being involved in a three-vehicle collision with a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck on Interstate 84, according to state police.

Kevin Gorman, 26, was taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital following the 4:37 p.m. collision, but later died of his injuries. Neither the tractor-trailer operator, a 53-year-old Florida man, or the pickup truck driver, a 32-year-old man from Willington, were injured in the crash, police said.

left lane of three on I-84 westbound prior to Exit 68. The pickup truck, a 2016 Dodge Ram, was also in the left lane, ahead of Gorman, and the semi was in the center lane. A previous unrelated crash had occurred in the left shoulder, causing motorists to brake suddenly and resulting in

reduced traffic speeds.

Gorman braked and lost control of his motorcycle, traveling into the left lane and striking the rear bumper of the pickup. The bike then veered into the center lane under the trailer portion of the semi, according to the police report.
