On Sunday, May 21, the final presentation of Music on the Green’s season will take place at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary of the United Congregational Church of Tolland. The church is located at 45 Tolland Green. Minister of Music Allan Conway will perform music for piano and organ, featuring several of his musical friends and colleagues. This is a benefit concert for the church’s Horsman Organ Fund.
Previewing the upcoming Beethoven on the Green summer series, Christa Berezowskij will collaborate with the “Spring Sonata.” A rising star in the bassoon world, Devin Cohen, will perform movements from the Carl Maria von Weber Bassoon Concerto. And finally, four talented young sopranos from UCONN will grace the sanctuary with their lovely voices. Solo selections by Allan will include Chopin, Ravel and Bach.
As Music on the Green closes its fifth season, they would like to thank everyone who came out to support and enjoy the concerts. They have four new commitments next season beginning with Take Note! the a cappella ensemble we’ve enjoyed previously, performing a benefit concert for our steeple fund on October 22. On December 3, Doofus, a four-person group performing with dulcimers, guitar, banjo, base, and vocal will present a Christmas program. Doofus has performed a number of times at the Tolland Arts Center and has been a crowd-pleaser. On March 11, Seldom Heard, a four-person folk group will perform, and on May 20, Allan Conway will once again play a benefit concert for the Organ Fund.
