Pace Stepping Up On Route 74 Bridge Project

The work is scheduled to be complete in July 2017, according to the DOT.

TOLLAND, CT - Work has intensified in a state Department of Transportation Project to replace the bridge on Route 74 over the Willimantic River.

The bridge - DOT structure No. 00982 - sits on the Tolland-Willington line.

The project includes the installation of a temporary bridge, removal of the existing bridge substructure and superstructure, construction of new abutments, back walls and superstructure, accordinng to a DOT Project outline.

Also elevation adjustments to the existing roadway will be included in an effort to match the approaches to the new bridge, according to the project outline.

The bid for the project was awarded to Brunalli Construction, Co. of Southington for $5,545,571.

Lane closures on Route 74 will take place on an as-needed basis Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 p.m., according to the DOT.

Certified flaggers and State Police will direct traffic during such closures, according to the DOT.
