Update: Tolland Public Works Employee Killed Identified
The incident happened Thursday.

Update: State Police have identified the deceased worker at David Ridzon of Willington, according to NBC Connecticut.
A Public Works employee was killed in the accident Thursday while fixing pot holes, said Town Manager Steven Werbner.
“Two dedicated employees were assigned a task which they have performed hundreds of times in the past, filling pot holes and as a result one employee is no longer with us,” he said in a statement.

The incident is being investigated by State Police, Werbner said. The deceased employee’s identity isn’t being released at this time.
“We grieve as Town employees and we grieve with the family who has lost a loved one,” he said. “I ask for your thoughts and prayers for the family and for the members of our Public Works Department.”

The accident happened happened near 60 Anderson Rd.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene around 11:45 a.m., according to the Hartford Courant. Reports were that the employee was hit by a truck being operated by another employee.
The injuries were serious and Anderson Road was closed as State Police investigated, according to Fox CT.
The employee was transported via Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital.
