Picture Tolland: Blacksmith On The Green
The latest installment of the Picture Tolland series.

TOLLAND, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Tolland series takes us to the center of town and the old blacksmith shop, which was located between today's No. 94 and No. 96 Tolland Green.
According to the Tolland Historical Society, the "smitty" operated from colonial times until about 1920, when the automobile came into vogue.
The smitty shoed horses and oxen, shaped straps for wagon wheels and fences, repaired farm equipment and made hinges, among other items.
