TOLLAND, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Tolland series takes us back to the 1980s and one versatile fire vehicle.

Engine 240, a 1983 GMC Middlesex Engine, is shown behind Station 240 in July 1984. Engine 240 was equipped with a 1,250-gallon-per-minute Darley pump and a 500-gallon water tank.

Engine 240 was "re-designated" two more times as Engine 140 and Engine 340. Engine 240 was purchased new in 1983 and was taken out of service and later sold in 2004.
