Picture Tolland: Who Ya Gonna Call? ... Tolland Fire

TOLLAND, CT — A young resident of the area happen to notice a recent historical post by the Tolland Fire Department.

"Wait ... the Ghost Busters were in Tolland?"

"No, but those ambulances did actually exist."

"Whoa ... really?"

"Yep."

Welcome to the latest installment of the Picture Tolland series. This might not be the iconic 1959 Cadillac ambulance used in the popular film, but it's close. Pictured is a 1970 version that was the second Tolland Ambulance vehicle to serve the town, fire department officials tell us.

It was purchased new in 1970 and served until 1977.

Its original call sign was Rescue 514 and later changed to Rescue 540. The photo was taken by John Turner near the old jailhouse and museum.

Cadillac produced commercial chassis from 1931 to 1979, Wikipedia tells us.
