Quick-Thinking Bystanders Take On Brush Fire On I-84

TOLLAND, CT — Alert bystanders put out of brush fire along a section of Interstate-84 in Tolland on Wednesday.

The call came in at about noon. Fire officials said the brush fire was on the westbound side of the highway between Exits 69 and 68.

Crews from the first-arriving engine reported that the fire was out, thanks to bystanders.

Firefighters stayed at the scene to "thoroughly wet down the area," fire officials said.
