Remembering Irma Schmidt: Connecticut's Oldest Voter and Tolland Resident Dies

Tolland lost a faithful civic participant and a much-loved citizen last week when Irma Schmidt passed away at the age of 112 on July 25, according to .
Schmidt, the oldest living resident of the state, was a resident of the Woodlake at Tolland Nursing & Rehabilitation, according to a story in the Hartford Courant.
The newspaper reported that Schmidt had voted in every major November election since 1920 and was believed to be the oldest active voting resident in Connecticut.

Memorial services will be held at the United Congregational Church of Tolland on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Woodlake at Tolland, 26 Shenipsit Lake Rd., Tolland, CT 06084; or to the Irma and George Schmidt Scholarship Fund, Douglass College/Rutgers, 181 Ryders Lane, New Brunswick NJ 08901-8557.
