Report Released On Wild Head-On Highway Crash In Tolland

State police have released details of a wild scene on Interstate-84 in Tolland on Monday.

TOLLAND, CT — State police have released details of a wild scene on Interstate-84 in Tolland on Monday in which a van in tow broke loose and hit a tractor-trailer head-on.

The crash took place at 3:02 p.m.

According to a report, a tractor-trailer was traveling on the westbound side of the highway in the right-hand lane, east of exit 67. A Ryder truck was behind the tractor-trailer in the center lane, according to a report.

A van towing another van was on the eastbound side of the highway in the center lane and, according to state police, the tow bar "failed." The van that was being towed rolled onto the center median and onto the westbound side of the highweay, where it hit the tractor trailer head-on and slammed into the rear of the Ryder truck.

No injuries were reported.

All three lanes of I-84 were shut dowjn for about three hours, while the scene was cleared, according to a report.

The driver of the van, a 45-year-old Lawrence, MA, man, was charged with reckless driving and having an unsecured load.
