TOLLAND, CT — Round 3 of Tolland's budget referendum is on tap for next week.

The proposed budget totals $64.3 million. The first two versions have been rejected by voters.

The voting on the proposed budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year is scheduled for June 4 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Library Program Room, 21 Tolland Green.

The ballot question is:

“Shall the Town of Tolland’s proposed 2024-2025 budget of $64,310,940, reflecting a spending increase of $2,759,583 or 4.48% which requires an estimated tax rate of 38.32 mills or an increase of .99 mills or 2.65% be adopted?” Yes/No”

Overview:

"Tolland’s budget is being impacted by increasing Expenditures partially offset by local revenue increases. Spending is increasing by $2,759,583 while non-tax revenue is also increasing $1,210,623 over last year’s budget. This includes an increase of $180,150 in the State reimbursement of motor vehicle tax difference for the lower mill rate cap, an increase in investment income of $456,375, increases and decreases in other revenues and the impact of the hold harmless allowance in the Education Cost Sharing grant of $175,378. This revenue also includes an additional $100,000 from undesignated fund balance and $300,000 from the Municipal Tax Stabilization Fund."
