Serious Crash Prompts Road Closure in Tolland
A vehicle hit a pole in Tolland Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

TOLLAND, CT — A serious crash Wednesday afternoon prompted the closure of Old Stafford Road.
Tolland Town Manager Brian Foley said it took place on Old Stafford Road at about 2 p.m.
Old Stafford Road was closed in the area of Slater Road after a vehicle hit a pole, he said.

The closure was expected for "a significant amount of time," Foley said.
Life Star helicopter was summoned to the area, Foley said. State police said one person was flown to an area hospital.

The pole was "destroyed" in the crash and a crew from Eversource Energy was at the scene.
State police and the Tolland Fire Department was also at the scene.
Intermittent power outages in the area were expected through the repair process, Foley said.
