Single-Vehicle Crashes Piled Up in Tolland County During Storm

The weekend snowstorm and subsequent frigid weather left a path of destruction across roads in Tolland County.

TOLLAND, CT — The weekend snowstorm and subsequent frigid weather left a path of destruction across roads in Tolland County, state police said.

Several single-vehicle crashes were highlighted by reports at the state police Troop C barracks.

  • On Sunday at 8:52 a.m, a 2015 Toyota Venza was traveling south on Bassetts Bridge Road in Mansfield. The 38-year-old driver lost control, hit a utility pole and the pole fell onto the car. No injuries were reported.
  • At 10:56 a.m. Sunday, a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe was heading north on Route 32 in Stafford and hit a utility pole on the right shoulder in front of the Water Pollution Control Authority building. No injuries were reported.
  • At 11:51 a.m. Sunday, a 1991 Ford F150 was traveling south on Furnace Avenue in Stafford when it struck as wooden sign, a wooden light post and a tree in front of the Glennville Condominiums. There were no injuries, statre police said.
  • At 1:13 p.m., Sunday, a 2012 Kia Sorento was on Route 140 in Ellington heading east. It hit a utiliuty pole on thre right side of the road after failing to negotiate a curve, state police said. There were no reported injuries.
  • On Sunday at 4:41 p.m., a 2008 Toyota Prius was on the westbound side of Interstate-84 in the center lane near Exit 67 in Vernon. It skidded on the snow-covered road and wound up in a snowbank off the right shoulder. No injuries were reported.
  • At 5:02 p.m. Sunday a 1995 Chevrolet S10 overturned on Daleville School Road in Willington. The driver left the scene but was located at a nearby residence. The driver was not injured, state police said.
  • At 7:18 a.m. Monday, a 2016 Hyundai Elantra skidded on an icy stretch of Crystal Lake Road in Tolland and crashed into a snowbank after spinning, state police said.
  • At 9:04 a.m Monday, a 2017 Hyundai Sonata wound up in a ditch after hitting ice on Tolland Turnpike in Mansfield. No injuries were reported.
