State Police Intercept Wayward Commercial Truck, Driver Charged

TOLLAND, CT — Several 911 calls alerted state police to an erratic driver in a commercial vehicle on Interstate-84 and the driver was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence, a report indicates.
The incident took place at 3:51 on Monday on the eastbound side of I-84, according to a report.
According to a report, several motorists spotted the commercial vehicle being operated erratically while heading through Vernon and troopers in Tolland assisting a disable motorist saw him go by in the extreme left lane, which he was prohibited from traveling in.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Robert Golden of Willington, was stopped and failed a series of field sobriety tests, He gave consent for state police to search the vehicle and "several pieces" of drug paraphernalia were located, a report indicates.
In addition to DUI, he was charged for possessing the paraphernalia, possessing a controlled substance and failure to drive right, according to a report.

He has a court date of Nov.19, state police said.
