State Police: Man Clocked at 100 MPH in Tolland With Children in 'Improper' Seat Belts

He was driving a BMW, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT - A Massachusetts man was speeding along a stretch of Interstate-84 at about 100 mph with children not properly secured by seat belts and is facing a number of charges as a result, state police said.

Jean Caba-Gonzalez 25, of Lawrence, MA, was clocked at 100 MPH on the eastbound side of I-84 near Exit 68 in his BMW 328 four-door sedan by a trooper on a speed-enforcement detail, according to an arrest report.

The trooper caught up to him, stopped the vehicle and found four minors in the car. A 9-year-old and a 5-year-old were in the back with a single seat belt draped around them, which is illegal and improper, state police said.

Caba-Gonzalez was charged with Failure to use a proper seat belt with a child, failure to secure a child with the proper restraint system, operating to endanger the occupant of a car, and reckless driving, state police said.
