State Police: Uncleared Vehicle Roof Fines Are Expensive
State police have not been bashful about motorists keeping their roofs and trunks clear of snow.

TOLLAND, CT — State police have not been shy about reminding motorists how expensive — and potentially dangerous — it is to leave snow and ice on the roofs and trunks of vehicles.
Here is what it costs after getting caught:
- The fine for uncleared vehicles — hood, roof, trunk — is $120.
- The fine for an obstructed windshield is $92.
That goes for all vehicles, including buses and large trucks, state police said.

State police said windshields of trailing cars have been broken by snow and ice flying off the vehicle in front.
Last week, state police released a photo of damage to a car windshield after snow and ice flew off a tractor-trailer on on Interstate-84 eastbound near Exit 27. No one was injured, but shards of glass landed on driver of the car, state police said.
