Suspected Drunken Driver Hits 130 MPH On I-84, Then Nabbed In Tolland

A driver failed a DUI test after being clocked at about 130 mph on a stretch of Interstate 84 in Tolland over the weekend a report says.

TOLLAND, CT β€” A driver failed a sobriety test after being clocked at about 130 mph on a stretch of Interstate 84 in Tolland over the weekend, state police said.

At 1:43 a.m. Saturday, a state trooper was traveling west on I-84 about a mile short of Exit 68, according to an arrest report. The trooper then noticed a silver Mercedes swerving on the highway at speeds of between 125 and 130 mph, according to an arrest repot.

The trooper caught up with the Mercedes about a half-mile before Exit 67, and after getting pulled over the driver showed signs of impairment, according to an arrest report.

The driver, a 29-year-old East Hartford man, failed a sobriety test and was charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence, a lane violation and an insurance violation, according to an arrest report.

He posted a $10,000 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on April 17, records show.
