TOLLAND, CT — A truck carrying 55,000 of rock collided with a sport utility vehicle on Merrow Road in Tolland last week, state police said.

The accident took place at 10:24 a.m. on June 6, state police said.

The truck was headed north on an uphill slope at just 10 mph on Merrow Road — also known as state Route 195 — and the SUV, a 2002 Dodge Dakota driven by a 77-year-old Storrs man, was headed south, according to a state police report.

While attempting to stop while approaching stopped traffic, the SUV swerved left and hit the front end of the truck, according to a report.

Both the SV driver and the driver of the truck, a 52-year-old Vernon man, suffered minor injuries, state police said.
