SUV Slams into State DOT Truck in I-84 Work Zone
DOT Workers from Mansfield and Willington were taken to an area hospital after an SUV hit their truck.

WILLINGTON, CT — An sport utility vehicle slammed into a state Department of Transportation dump truck in a marked work zone in Interstate-84 early Thursday afternoon, state police said.
The crash took place at 12:51 p.m., according to a state police crash report.
At that time, a 2017 Lincoln MKC driven by Liran Sham 47, of West Warren, NJ, was traveling westbound in the center lane and approaching a marked work area, according to a crash report.

A DOT dump truck with flashing yellow lights was parked in the right lane, the fourth in line from east-to-west positioned for a gradual lane closure, according to a crash report.
For "an unknown reason," the Lincoln veered into the right lane and struck the parked DOT truck occupied by two workers — Eric Hall, 46, of Mansfield and 24-year-old Joseph Csiki of Willington, accordmg to a crash report.

The Lincoln landed on its side and Shah had to be extricated. He was transported to Hartford Hospital for evaluation, according to a crash report.
Both DOT workers were taken to Rockville General Hospital for evaluation, according to a crash report.
I-84 westbound was shut down for some time while workers cleaned up after the crash, state police said.
