TOLLAND, CT — With the heavy rains gone and the run off having run off, the beach at Crandall Park was back in business for most of the weekend and for the start of the new week.

On Friday, Eastern Highlands Health District recommended the temporary closure of the Crandall Beach and Pond following water quality testing that detected elevated bacteria levels.

The areas were to remain closed until follow-up testing confirmed that water quality had returned to acceptable standards and the sites can be safely reopened.
