TFD Chief Littell Recognized For 30 Years Of Service In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — Tolland Fire Chief and Public Safety Supervisor John Littell is being recognized for his 30th year of service in town.

The Tolland Fire Department's weekly "historical" post was dedicated to Littell's career.

Chief Littell started off as a volunteer with the Tolland Fire Department in May, 1990 and was hired as a paid public safety officer on March 30 — 30 years ago.

Littell achieved the rank of Lieutenant in 1993. He was named captain in 1996 and deputy chief in 1998.

In 2000, he was named chief of the department and public safety supervisor a year later. He is also the emergency management director and supervises the day-to-day operations of the Tolland Fire Department, the animal control division and the fire marshal's office.

Littell is from a family of dedicated firefighters that included his father, brother, uncles, great uncle and grandfather and each family member reached the rank of chief officer.

In a statement of social media, the department said, "Chief Littell is highly motivated, dedicated, and is at the call 24/7 always placing members of the community first by responding to the emergency needs of people at any hour of the day. Congratulations Chief on reaching this milestone and we look forward to your continued service with the town and fire department."
