TikTok Video Leads State Cops To Tolland County Dirt Bike Trickster

TOLLAND, CT — A video posted on social media led state police to a motorcycle trickster, who is now facing several criminal charges for his stunts on Interstate 84 and elsewhere in Tolland County.

The 18-year-old Ellington resident, identified as Hunter Laforest, was charged Friday with driving an unregistered vehicle, traveling unreasonably fast, reckless driving, failure to comply with passing on the right rules, failure to drive in the proper lane, a motorcycle face protection violation, operating a motorcycle without insurance and improper motorcycle headlamps.

According to an arrest report, the Ellington resident state trooper's office was tipped off to a video that appeared on a social media platform showing dirt bike riders speeding on public streets in Tolland County. They were doing wheelies and cutting off cars on the roads, among other stunts, state police said.

The riders have been recording their stunts and posting them to social media platforms and state police have identified several in the group, according to a warrant.

According to a warrant, troopers had spoken to the parents of the riders in an effort to get them off public roads without success and have also tried to corral the riders several times, only to see them speed away.

One telltale video appeared on June 25 on a TikTok page. The teen that was eventually arrested was shown on I-84 Westbound between Exits 68 and 67 performing wheelies, driving with one hand, passing on the right shoulder and speeding, among other antics, according to an arrest report.

At the time, that section of highway was being paved, thus creating an additional hazard, state police said in a warrant.

Troopers then positively identified him based on images and social media account information, tracked him down and charged him.

The teen posted a $20,000 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on Oct. 16.
