N/A

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

My desire to become more involved in town government is to reintegrate into the community where I grew up and build strong connections and opportunities for my children. As a child and teenager, I may have spent the majority of my time willfully oblivious to Tolland's potential, focusing instead on friends, sports, and the cute girl down the hall who eventually became my wife... but, we decided to return to Tolland building a home in the Town that helped shape me into the man that I am today. Needless to say, the Board of Education is the perfect place to start, as I have my children's future education to think about... and I think we can be doing better.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Ensuring that the budget remains in check, knowing that any increases are truly warranted to maintain competitive with our peer towns and surplus' are kept to a minimum.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

With extensive work history in the banking industry, more specifically dealing with Federal and State regulatory policy changes, I will bring a keen attention to detail when it comes to incorporating state guidelines into local policy. Furthermore, helping small business', families, and individuals in my financial planning practice has given me the opportunity to critically analyze a budget... and I will be carrying that experience into the Town's annual budget review process to ensure transparency in any changes for our constituents.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

Requested budget increases have gotten out of hand in recent years. There needs to be greater transparency to constituents to ensure each voter understands exactly what an increase to the budget means to their pockets and where the dollars are actually going.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

My primary focus is the budget, however I would like to see more transparency between the school system/ their educators and parents. Test scores are not where they should be, and an open line of communication between the schools and parents can only assist in how we partner to get our kids up to appropriate standards.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Managing the renewal of hundreds of different commercial banking policies, standards, and procedures to adhere to Federal and State regulatory guidance gives me a unique perspective to ensure we're appropriately adhering to State Legislature in our Town.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

There's no substitute for hard work - doing the right thing, for the right reason, will always pay back in dividends.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

Historically, running independent in Tolland hasn't worked very well. While my values and beliefs align primarily with the Republican Party, my overall goal is to make sure that we're providing our kids a better opportunity than we were given. Education shouldn't be looked at from a left or right sided mindset, I simply want to work as one community to use common sense and do what's right for all our constituents. It's a tall order, but I think we can do better.
