Two goals from Sophomore Jeremy Cardella and a goal and an assist from Senior Zachary Zwick paced the Tolland Eagles to a 5-0 win over Rockville in a Monday night contest at Tolland HS.
Tolland opened the scoring 14:34 into the first half. Zwick turned the corner on the defense and fed Cardella, who buried his first chance of the evening.
Despite dominating play, Tolland didn't add the second goal until just 8:15 before the half. Senior Tyler Impey laid a ball off to Tommy Allen who finished his first goal of the year to double the lead.
Derek Lee knifed through the Rams defense on a quick combination with Tommy Allen to make it 3-0 Eagles at 7:23 of the 2nd half.
Cardella's second of the night came off a set piece from Ryan Wallert at 23:43 of the 2nd hald. Just over a minute later, Mark Landolina drove a ball into the box which Zwick finished to complete the scoring.
Nick Olson and Kyle Boutot split the goalkeeping duties for Tolland. They had just four saves on the night, but Boutot had to save a penalty kick and the rebound with just over two minutes left to preserve the shutout.
Tolland hosts Bloomfield at 3:30 pm on Friday at the THS Athletic Stadium and then travels to RHAM on Saturday for a 1 pm match versus the league leading Sachems.
The win pushes Tolland to 8-2 on the year and 6-2 in the CCC East. Rockville is 1-10 overall and 1-8 in the CCC East.
