Tolland Crash Claims Life Of 85-Year-Old Driver

TOLLAND, CT — An 85-year-old man suffered fatal injuries after his car collided with another in Tolland Wednesday afternoon, state police said.

According to a crash report, the accident took place at 1:41 p.m.

State police said in a crash report that an 18-year-old Tolland woman in a 2005 Subaru Legacy was traveling south on Old Stafford Road and a 2017 Nissan Murano with the 85-year-old man behind the wheel was traveling west on Slater Road.

At the intersection where Slater Road meets Old Stafford Road, the Murano entered the intersection and struck the Legacy, causing both vehicles to collide into a utility pole off the roadway, according to a crash report.

The 18-year-old sustained what state police termed "minor injuries" and was transported by the Tolland Fire Department to Hartford Hospital.

The 85-year-old, identified as Emmanuel Damboragian, of Tolland, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounce deceased at the scene, according to a crash report.

The lone passenger in the Nissan Murano, an 85-year-old Tolland woman, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital, according to a crash report.

The case is requiring "further investigation" and remained active Thursday morning, state police said. They said anyone with information regarding the accident can contact Trooper Daniel Gonzalez at Troop C in Tolland (860-896-3200).
