What is your occupation?
I have worked in the public sector for over 20 years in para-military positions, clerical positions, public safety and not in law enforcement. In my early 20s, I was involved in the Rails to Trails project, I've assisted in the design and building of confidence courses used by Police Departments and Armed Forces, and most recently I built a home in Tolland.
Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.
My husband and I looked at a house in Tolland in 2008; we never forgot how Tolland made us feel, so in 2015 we moved our family here. All of our children have attended Tolland Public Schools (Jacob, 20 years old; Evan, 13 years old; Owen, 9 years old) and are a part of this community. We have 3 dogs and enjoy all of the walking trails to keep us all busy and enjoying the outdoors.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
No
Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
Land use has always been a passion of mine. Tolland is uniquely situated on the I-84 corridor which offers a wide variety of potential growth opportunities. The PZC has been working hard to update decades old zoning regulations, I am excited to have the opportunity to implement and be involved in this new simplified positive experience for both residents and businesses.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Taxes. While PZC isn't directly involved with spending and budgeting; PZC is directly involved with business' who would potentially offset the strain on residents.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
My passion and long-term goals for Tolland will benefit residents for decades to come. I am open, honest and empathetic which will allow me to listen to the residents and make decisions which will benefit Tolland. I would love to see Tolland be a place where residents can live, eat, be outdoors and feel safe no matter where they are.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have worked in the public sector for over 20 years. I navigate difficult situations on a daily basis and my goal is always help people feel heard. Rails to Trails was controversial, yet it is one of the most widely used bike/walking trails used today and expands across the United States.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Make your dreams come true today, tomorrow is not promised.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
Small town living is my kind of living. I love this town and I am excited to be a part of Tolland's future.
