Tolland Firefighters Were On Thin Ice This Week ... And Saved The Day
Tolland firefighter honed their ice rescue skills this week.

TOLLAND, CT β Members of the Tolland Fire Department know how to operate when on thin ice.
On Monday evening, Tolland fire crews trained on cold water rescue emergencies on Crystal Lake in a joint exercise with the Crystal Lake Fire Department.
Members reviewed how to use the Marsars Ice Rescue Sled, ice rescue suits and different techniques to rescue someone trapped on or through the ice.

"These emergencies are more common in winter due to thin ice," fire officials said. "Please remember to always use caution and check the ice thickness, wear a life jacket and be in teams of two if you go on ice."
