Tolland Girls Take Third at State Open

A team of Eagles and one individual took first place honors at the indoor track and field championships in New Haven.

It wasn’t the same as winning it all in 2015, but the Tolland High School girls indoor track and field team did place a respectable third in the State Open this past weekend at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

The Eagles captured a pair of first-place finishes. AmyErin Zadroga won the pole vault by clearing 11 feet, while the 1,600 sprint medley team of Marissa Airoldi, Jessica Barry, Maddie Clark and Julia Sprout edged runnerup Danbury by .01 of a second.

Sprout took second in the 600 meter run, and Katherine Deloreto duplicated that feat in the 1,000 meters.
