Tolland Girls Win Third Straight Class M Indoor Track Title

Boys tie for sixth in state meet Saturday in New Haven.

For the third straight year, the Tolland High School girls indoor track and field team swept to a decisive victory in the Class M Championships Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

First-place showings in six different events boosted the Eagles to 101 points, far ahead of runnerup Weston’s 60.

Katherine Deloreto was a double winner, capturing the 1,000 meter run in 2:59.20 and the 1,600 meters in 5:19.07. She also placed third in the 3,200 meters.

Julia Sprout won the 600 meter run in 1:39.95, and AmyErin Zadroga won the pole vault by clearing 10 feet, 8 inches.

A pair of relay teams also took first place for the Eagles: the 4x400 quartet of Sprout, Maddie Clark, Karissa Laramie and Brooke Bonadies, and the 1,600 sprint medley team of Marissa Airoldi, Jessica Barry, Kaitlyn Bedard and Sprout.

Second-place finishes were turned in by Bonadies (600 meters), Hayley Collins (3,200 meters) and the 4x800 relay team of Clark, Bedard, Sidney Perryman and Collins.

Collins took third and Perryman sixth in the 1,600 meters, while the 4x200 team of Airoldi, Barry, Laramie and Taylor Papa placed fourth.

On the boys’s side, Tolland tied for sixth in the team standings. Josh Bedard was an individual winner, capturing the 1,000 meter run in 2:36.24.

The 1,600 sprint medley team of Alex Allen, Matt Fusco, Antonio Peloso and Bedard finished second, while the 4x400 team of Allen, Bedard, Peloso and Matt Supczak was third.
