Tolland Has Champion, Runnerup Wrestlers In State Open

NEW HAVEN, CT — The two-man brother team from Tolland High School turned in outstanding performances at the CIAC State Open wrestling championships, which concluded Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Ryan Angers won a 7-2 decision over Tyler Sung of New Canaan to win the 138 lb. division, while brother Michael was runnerup at 160 lbs., dropping a heartbreaking 4-3 decision to Izaake Zuckerman of Fairfield Warde in the finals.

For the second straight year, Danbury won the team competition with 149.5 points. Bristol Eastern, Killingly and Fairfield Warde tied for second.
