Tolland High School Class of 2022 Valedictorian, Salutatorian Named

TOLLAND, CT — The top two students for the Tolland High School Class of 2022 were officially announced Wednesday.

Here are their biographies:

Valedictorian - William Pater

Mr. William Pater is Tolland High School’s Class of 2022 Valedictorian.

William is an outstanding student and motivated to pursue any and all academic opportunities both here at Tolland High School and outside our school community. William has also taken the most challenging courses while attending THS and is truly invested and driven by the desire to learn. Will plans to pursue the medical field in his post-secondary path. He leads by example both in academics and personal character. His leadership positively influences others in our school community. William’s hard work and dedication will pay dividends on his journey moving forward.

Academically, William’s engagement and excellence is second to none. He participated in the Georgetown University Summer Medical Academy, has taken the highest level UCONN and AP courses at Tolland High, and maintained excellent standardized test scores throughout his high school career.

Outside of the classroom, William is an executive officer in the Health Science Club, an officer for both DECA and National Honor Society, and is a research assistant in the UConn School of Medicine. Like Max, William pursues his passions regardless of recognition. William’s hard work and dedication will pay dividends on his journey moving forward

Next year, William plans on attending Notre Dame University.

Salutatorian - Max Miller

Mr. Max Miller is the Tolland High School’s Class of 2022 Salutatorian.

Max is a smart, driven, and hard-working student who has enrolled and succeeded in the most challenging courses offered here at THS. Max has set himself apart by earning finalist recognition for the National Merit Scholarship, acquiring the seal of biliteracy in French, and demonstrating a strong commitment to playing the clarinet in our concert band.

Max has not only excelled in the classroom, but also beyond the four walls at Tolland High School. Max is a member of our local chapter of the National Honor Society and Audio Technical squad. Max constantly challenges himself. At the next stage of his life, he plans to study aerospace engineering. Already, Max has taken steps to prepare for that next step, taking courses and engaging in programs that develop his ability to program and develop computer-based applications. In his spare time, Max has built electronic circuits and enjoys reading satire and science fiction.

Clearly, Max has set himself apart both academically and creatively. Max strives for excellence regardless of recognition; he is a young man who simply loves learning and pursuing knowledge.

Next year, Max will be attending MIT.
