TOLLAND, CT — One of the most prominent homes on the Tolland Green is thriving while celebrating a new chapter in the new world of the bed and breakfast.

And psst ... the new owners have a famous name.

Lisa and Fred Day-Lewis recently opened up the Tolland Inn for a tour with Patch.

The Day-Lewises are no strangers to the B&B, especially those in historic places. Their family background includes a B&B in the heart of Salem, MA, and lately over at Ashford Lake.

They purchased the Circa 1780 Tolland Inn at the end of June. Lisa said she added a few personal touches — like a kitchen tweaked but designed right to period style — and are maintaining its status as a B&B through the Airbnb system.

The Tolland Inn has a unique concept. The Day-Lewises reside there with their two children and offer the rooms individually with separate entrances, and guests take the meals on their own.

"It lets the guests come and go," Lisa says, while chuckling and agreeing that they are like posh hotel rooms.

Yes, they are decorated to period, but there is a private hot tub available in one of them. One room features a wood-framed canopy bed and the other a vintage metal framed bed. The rooms have their own coffee makers. The Tolland Inn is 7 miles from the University of Connecticut's campus in Storrs.

In the private residence, the kitchen is a walk back in time with its original fireplace (with the obvious and necessary modern amenities) and the dining room is worthy of hosting Lafayette himself.

The grounds offer a panoramic western view and are fit for occasions like weddings and landmark occasions.

So the prevailing question had to be asked. Are Fred and Lisa related to THAT Day-Lewis ... Daniel Day Lewis?

"Yes ... we are related ... distantly," Lisa says.

So is he invited?

Lisa said the family is working on it, not for some crazy Last of the Mohicans thing, but for him to enjoy a piece of history, not only related to Tolland, but the region.

"It's a nice, historic home," Lisa says. "We're happy we had a chance to move here and share this home with others."
