Tolland Man Free On Bail In Sex Assault Case Nabbed For Skipping Court

TOLLAND, CT — A Tolland man who was free on a quarter-million-dollar bond in a teen sex assault case has been arrested for skipping out on a court date, sate police said.

George Telford Friday was served a warrant issued by Rockville Superior Court. A re-arrest order was issued in October, judicial system records show. He was to appear before a judge Monday.

Telford, now 35, was arrested by state police in connection with a sex assault investigation in late July.

He has been charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault, four counts each of:

  • Second-degree sexual assault
  • Third-degree sexual assault
  • Illegal sexual contact with someone younger than 16
  • Risk of injury to a child, according to an arrest report

The victim in the case was 14 at the time of the crimes, according to an arrest report.
